Our First Event: Musical Presentation and Luncheon

DeVonte’s Legacy of Love held our first event on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Crispus Attucks Community Center in Lancaster, PA. Friends, a musical group whose members come from surrounding areas in Delaware, blessed us with their powerful music. Friends has been singing together for over 35 plus years. One of their members, Jennifer, stated “Our group is called Friends, but we are family…literally. Matthew 18:20 is our scripture. ‘For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.’ " One of the attendees wrote the following on her Facebook page:

“Yesterday a time was Had! We gathered together to celebrate🙌🏾 lives lost tragically, to celebrate goodness and mercy🙏🏾, to temporarily lay our losses and grief 😞 down, to enjoy some powerful praise and worship in song 👏🏾 by the group Friends, to receive words of encouragement👍🏾, to enjoy food🥘 and nourishment together, and to be a part of a financial blessing 💰 of the recipient of the 2027 Devonte's Legacy of Love Scholarship! 🏆

Thank you my Green Street Sister💚 for the invite it definitely lifted my spirits!☀️”

We paused to remember Elliott “Little Diddy” Tyrone Corbin III. He was a young man whose life was taken from him on January 6, 2024 at the age of 19. We presented his mother, Ms. Monay Gonzalez, with a light-up memorial plaque. A card shower also took place during the event. Note cards were available for attendees to write words of encouragement and then given to Little Diddy’s family. His grandmother, Ms. Delores Gonzalez, and other family members were present as well. We were honored to have them present although we hesitate to call them guests of honor because nobody wants their son being murdered as the reason that they are considered as such. RIP Little Diddy 🙏🏾
